In this interview with John Hinchliffe, Digital Learning Experience Manager at Emirates NBD, we discuss the importance of cultivating a strong learning culture within organisations.
“The biggest issue is when employees don’t understand ‘what’s in it for me,’” says Hinchliffe.
He explains that companies often try to push learning initiatives without considering whether employees are genuinely interested, leading to feelings of overwhelm.
“With learning cultures, the key is figuring out how to lower the barriers to entry,” he adds.
“I think the most important step is to talk to your employees,” Hinchliffe suggests. “But also, analyse the data to see who is actually engaging with the content.”
According to Hinchliffe, data on content consumption is crucial for businesses to understand if their employees are actively participating in the learning programs. If not, companies need to reassess and find ways to drive that engagement.
For Hinchliffe, the future of learning culture lies in finding the right solutions for the right needs, tailoring strategies to fit the specific context of the organisation and its employees.
