Abu Dhabi is making significant strides in disability-inclusive employment, with the ‘Inclusivity Career Fair 2024’ at the forefront of these efforts.

This event, part of the Atmah Programme—GCC’s first Social Impact Bond—aims to empower Emirati People of Determination by connecting them with employers and equipping them with essential job skills.

“Through public, social, private sector collaborations, we are building a blueprint for how multiple sectors can join together to drive real community-driven change that is legacy-rich and grows with sustainability,” Hafsa Qadeer, Founder and CEO of ImInclusive said.

ImInclusive is a social enterprise and its work in the disability inclusive hiring space requires employers who lead with future-forward thinking, and build towards HR capacity of hiring people of determination.

Qadeer argues that capacity building is required for interviewers, line managers, supervisors, work buddies, policy-makers and HR members to screen, interview, and retain talent. “We also have a path to build towards policies that value both people with visible and invisible disabilities,” she said.

“Because of our partnerships, we are able to tackle challenges from service delivery and provide solutions to every stakeholder to remove barriers to inclusive employment,” added Qadeer.

Organised by the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, in partnership with the Zayed Higher Organisation and ImInclusive, the fair drew over 40 organisations committed to fostering inclusive employment practices across the UAE.

Companies such as Etihad Airways, EY, Deloitte, and more pledged to upskill, interview, and hire People of Determination. Notably, VFS Global and Khidmah were recognised for fulfilling their commitment to disability-inclusive hiring.

With over 120 HR and DEI professionals in attendance, the event underscored the importance of integrating People of Determination into the workforce at all levels. As a continuation of these efforts, the next Inclusivity Career Fair is scheduled for September 2025, offering organisations a chance to contribute to building inclusive, future-ready workforces.
