Editor’s Note: This interview was conducted prior to the L&D conference in May. We are publishing it now as we do believe it remains relevant. It is one of the pieces that we prefer the interviewee speaks rather than we write it down.
In this interview Erin Meyer, the author of the book The Culture Map explains how the concept of people’s culture affects productivity, particularly within a global context. Meyer defined culture as the personality of a group and emphasised the complexity of understanding and adapting to cultural differences.
She shared her framework for “culture mapping” and highlighted the need to differentiate between cultural and personal interactions.
