New data from LinkedIn reveals that the most in demand jobs in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are in the sales, technology, sustainability and human resources sectors, as the countries look to expand revenues amid global economic uncertainty.

Some of the roles, Linkedin said include back-end Developer, sales representative, environmental managers, and human resources operations specialists.

According to Linkedin, there have also been more openings for professionals looking for flexible work arrangements, with remote jobs growing by 27.7% in December compared to the previous month in the UAE.

The majority of businesses in both countries want to acquire advanced skills such as programming languages and cybersecurity.

LinkedIn researchers went through the jobs started by LinkedIn members from January 1, 2018 to July 31, 2022 to calculate the growth rate for each job title in ‘Jobs on the Rise for 2023’.

The firm said that overall, hiring activity in the UAE slowed down in December “ by 10 per cent compared to the year before, which saw a significant post-pandemic hiring surge. Hiring is still significantly higher than it was in 2020 (by 37.1%).”

The UAE has openings for software developers, with 3 out of the Top 10 positions being for such a role. Meanwhile, hiring for sales reps, with key service-focussed sub-sectors such as retail has shown a strong growth trajectory through the second-half of 2022.

LinkedIn data shows that about 40 %of the top 10 roles are related to cyber security, data analysis and software development.

Both Saudi Arabia and the UAE have introduced various economic, legal and social reforms over the years to attract global talent while maintaining a strong business environment.

There has been an increase in foreign direct investment, and different visa packages to ensure the influx of talent into both countries.
