Job security, work environment and salary are drivers for employees in the UAE

Job seekers with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are looking for long term job security, better work environment and higher salaries, show a survey conducted in the country.

The survey Attraction and Retention of Talent in Mena Survey was conducted, by Bayt.com, a top Middle East job site, and market research agency YouGov, to understand the driving trends within the UAE that attract employees. The data was collected online between October 14 to November 8, 2022 from 3,478 respondents from the region.

“Overall, it seems that employees in the region are looking for more authentic experiences in the workplace,” said Zafar Shah, research director at YouGov in a statement.

According to the survey, 7 in 10 respondents said they find an employer attractive if they follow good ethics and practices. Around 60% said that they look for a friendly company culture and 52% said they look at corporate social responsibility.

“Besides salary, a large number of surveyed employees longed for long-term career development opportunities as a major driver of loyalty towards a company,” said Ola Haddad, director of human resources at Bayt.com in the statement.

“This signals how clear demands for a heightened company culture that is on the rise can be closely linked to a desire for more genuine professional development,” added Haddad.

Around 27% of the respondents said that social media and online company pages are effective media to promote a company’s culture to job seekers.

Around 65% of respondents said that it is important to highlight the company’s perks and benefits to excite them to join the company. Meanwhile, 44% said employee testimonials and reviews are considered.  Around 36% said company events and socials

“Now that the pandemic is nearly coming to a close, we foresee a bigger focus on employee loyalty in what has come to be known as the great age of resignation,” added Shah.
